Our story

Ibby Sasso has had a longtime love (read, obsession) for fragrances and the benefits that aromatherapy can bring to one’s overall well-being and mood. When Ibby and Fabio welcomed their now five year old son they were told that he was immunocompromised and would need a stem cell transplant in an effort to provide him with a fully-functioning immune system. This involved a four month stay in the hospital while their son underwent treatment and ongoing special care to this day. One way that Ibby coped and continues to manage the anxiety, stress and worry of having an immunocompromised child is through aromatherapy and taking small moments to breathe and re-center.

Fabio has never been one to sit still. Like most of the world’s population, with the onset of the pandemic he was finding himself overcome with anxiety, stress and worry. He was inspired to find a way to help himself while also encouraging others to focus on the simple act of breathing to calm the mind and reset. This resulted in the launch of Calmaria, an extremely simple breathing app that is meant to help individuals focus on their breath as a tool for improved balance and wellness.

With this as context and inspiration, Ibby and Fabio have blended their techniques to help better manage stress for mental and physical wellness by creating Terral, a small-batch, non-gendered fragrance, made with botanical ingredients and aroma molecules. This limited-edition roll-on parfum is intended for use with the breathing app, Calmaria. Functional ingredients include Hinoki, Pink Grapefruit and Black Pepper to calm the mind, Hiba Cedarwood, Lavender and Damask Rose to reduce anxiety along with Haitian Vetiver and Sandalwood to bring relaxation and peace. Flexible for layering or use on its own, Terral is beneficial to anyone needing stress-relief and tranquility while serving as a gentle reminder to breathe in and take time for yourself.

The pair partnered with L'Aromatica, a Latina-owned and operated artisan fragrance company based in Northern California on this exclusive fragrance.

PRODUCT INFO

• I understand Terral is a parfum. Can you explain the difference between parfum vs. perfume? 
  Terral is a parfum (said with a very fancy accent) composed entirely of essential oils and a trace amount of clean synthetics. There is no alcohol in our formula. The fragrance was made to not overpower and we recommend layering and re-applying when a personally imposed time-out is necessary. Parfum concentrations are historically genderless and are second only to their cousin perfume in strength. These contain between 15% and 20% pure perfume essence and can last up to 8 hours. 
  
  Perfume, as Lifehacker points out, is the most concentrated and expensive of all fragrance options. Slightly oilier than its lighter relatives, perfume is composed of 20% – 30% pure perfume. A single application of a perfume can last up to 24 hours. If you don't want to leave a trail go easy on when applying this format.

  Of course! When checking out, you can leave a personalized message for the receiver, which we will include on a handwritten note in your package.
• My order arrived damaged - what do I do? 
  Oh no! We're so sorry to hear that. We pack all of our orders with great care by hand. However, sometimes things happen in transit that are out of our control. If you received something that was damaged in transit, please email ibby@abdz.do with your order number and a picture of the damaged item - we will send out a replacement ASAP.

  Currently just shipping within the continental U.S.A.
• When will my order ship?
  All purchases ship with standard shipping (unless expedited shipping is chosen). Our orders ship from Oakland, California and should arrive within 3-5 business days barring any holiday shipping snafus.
• I’d like to return my item- how do I do that?
  Our sincere apologies but we do not accept any returns for this limited-edition product.
